Thank you very much for the plug and the kind words about Zombie Take-Out, it’s greatly appreciated.
I recently rented Red State and have to say that it is brilliant, easily Smith’s best film so far by far. It was a little odd to see a movie of his that isn’t a comedy, but I completely agree with the reviewer that you quoted in that he absolutely pulls it off. Also, while the trailer does make the ATF agents look a somewhat bumbling, they completly fit the mood of the film at that point … which is definitely not comedic.
I also rented Tucker & Dale vs Evil and have to strongly recommend it as well. I should point out that it is extremely (and fairly realistically) violent and gory, but it’s also hilarious and does a great job of turning the cliche ‘killer in the woods’ movie on it’s head.
I’m very happy to see studios releasing movies online before or during their theatrical run. I’ve never really been that attached to the theatrical experience, so I’m glad to (legally) have the convenience of seeing them at home without having to wait until they’re out of the theater. I hope that the experient is a success and that it eventually becomes standard operating precedure for all movies.
I had no idea that there was a Roadhouse 2. Given how bad the original was, I can only imagine how horrible the sequel must be. I think I’m going to have to add it to the list for Zombie Take-Out.
By the way, I love the Why Bother jingle. I think that In Time could have used it was well.
